IRGC Warns West against Invasion of Iran

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) warned West against any invasion of Iran, and stressed that the Iranian nation would stand up to any possible aggression by hegemonic powers, alluding to the US and its allies.

In a statement issued on Wednesday to mark the anniversary of US-backed Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-1988), the IRGC underlined full preparedness of the Iranian nation to defend the country.

The statement further pointed to the role of the enemies and the arrogant powers during the Iraqi imposed war on Iran in the 1980s, and blasted them for equipping the former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein with advanced weapons and huge financial and intelligence support against the Islamic Republic.

It said while the brave Iranian soldiers made great sacrifices and put an end to the myth of invincibility of the arrogant powers especially the US during the imposed war, now that Iran has acquired great experiences its armed forces are even much more prepared to deal with possible aggressions.

Meantime, the General Headquarters of the Armed Forces also voiced its full preparedness to deal with any kind of enemy threats.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Iranian armed forces said that the sacred bloods that the brave soldiers dedicated for defending the country during eight-year US-backed imposed war have gifted full preparedness to the Iranian Armed Forces.

"The General Headquarters of the Armed Forces is well aware of the current situation in the region and has mobilized its forces in the Army of the Islamic Republic, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), the Defense Ministry, the Basij (volunteer forces) and the Islamic Republic of Iran Police (IRIP) to defend the country and the aspirations of the late Imam Khomeini," the statement said.
